Polka Dotty OOTD (05.13.13.)

Hey Everyone!
I hope you're all having beautiful days! The sun is shinning here so I thought I'd take advantage of the beautiful light and snap an outfit of the day for you. This morning I had an interview for a really amazing and trendy restaurant near my home. I wanted to keep my outfit fresh and simple while still showing off my bubbly personality.
(Polka Dot Dress: thrifted $9.99 , AE Cardigan: thrifted $2. , Nine West Shoes: thrifted $5. Aldo Purse $20.)
I seriously can't get enough of this dress! I picked it up last week at a local thrift shop and squealed for joy when it zipped up. It's a strapless dress with lace and bead detailing round the bottom plus a pop of crinoline (drool).

(Wet n' Wild nail polish in "Candy-licious")
Since it's a strapless, I popped  a light sweater over top to cover my shoulders. If you can't tell I am loving these Nine West shoes I picked up in Bermuda. They're the perfect summer shoe with just the slightest wedge heel.

(hopefully this will be me jumping for joy that I got the job... I really hope!!)
(who wouldn't want to hire this face?!)
I kept my hair and makeup very simple. I used light purple eyeshadow shades with a slight winged liner to keep with the retro feel of my dress. I topped it all off with a juicy pink lip. For my hair I just ran a curling iron through it to create soft loose curls (and forgot the hairspray so they quickly feel out).
To try and keep myself busy today (I'm feeling like I drank 50 cups of coffee I'm so jittery and nervous) while I wait for the result, I'm going to go do some more thrifting! Woot woot! One of my current favourite shops is having a 50% off sale today. Say what?! Oh yess my friends.

May Wishlist (05.11.13)

Hey Everyone!
Today I thought it might be fun to post some of the things I'm currently coveting. It will be fun to look back at these posts and see what sorts of things I was into at the time. Our tastes and styles are constantly evolving (we're girls, we're entitled to it!).

(oooohhh!!! It's all so puuurty!)
  • The Great Gatsby: Two words... Baz Luhrmann. I know I'm not alone on this one. This movie is clearly going to be amazeballs! Moulin Rouge is one of my favourite movies. If you've never seen a Baz Luhrmann movie what have you been doing with your life?!

  • Naked Basics Palette:  I've been wanting this Urban Decay palette for a while now. I am obsessed with my Naked 1&2 palettes. Urban Decay makes amazing eyeshadows and this palette is no exception. I'd heard so many good things about it on YouTube and got the chance to swatch it in Sephora a couple months back. It's gorgeous and I love that it's nice and compact. The perfect no fuss palette to pop in your purse or overnight bag.
  •  Revlon Lip Butters  2013 Spring Collection: These babies have been all over the blogosphere and YouTube. I looove the lip butters I already have and these shades are perfect for Spring/Summer. All three of these shades look amazing and perfect for every occasion. I've link to a blog post by a YouTuber I really love. If you haven't tried Revlon Lip Butters yet, do yourself a favour and pick one up next time you're out. The formula is amazing and the colour pay off is outstanding. You won't be disappointed!
  • Ray Ban Glasses: Yes I know... hipster glasses. But I LOVE them so! If I have to suffer through having horrible eyesight then I should at least get to take advantage of the accessories! You can't get more classic then Ray Bans.
  • Essie "In the Cab-ana: This is from Essie's Resort Collection. It's the perfect shade of tropical ocean blue. I have several Essie shades already, and I'm always thrilled with the formula.
  • Nikon D5100: I have been seriously considering getting into creating YouTube videos lately. If I'm going to do it, I want to do it right with excellent quality. I love my Nikon D60 but really wish it shot video. This Nikon shoots in 1080p with full-time autofocus. Bonus: it has a screen that flips around front, making it easy to keep things in frame while filming alone.
  • TOMS Wedges: I finally bought my first pair of TOMS a month ago and I've never been so impressed. They live up to all the hype. They are seriously the most comfortable shoes I own. I practically live in them and now I want to try a few more. These wedges look like the perfect addition to any summer wardrobe. Plus who doesn't love a purchase that pays it forward. For every pair of TOMS shoes sold, a child in need receives a new pair of shoes. Love it!
What are some of your current must haves? I'd love to hear!

Daily Tidbits:
  • Josh just made his first ever pot of tea... needless to say he put WAY to much tea in the pot not knowing it was going to expand. So precious.
  • I think I'm seeing the first signs of abs appearing! SCORE! Perhaps those crunches are finally paying off.
  • I bought a new candle at Bath & Bodyworks last night from their Italian Collection. Oh.Ma.Gawd. The house smells so amazing.

My Fragrance Collection (05.09.13)

Hey everyone!
So today I thought I'd share with you all my fragrance collection. I watch a lot of YouTubers (like a lot...a lot) and I am always so interested when they do collection videos. I love seeing what other people are using and loving. I think a fragrance choice really says something about the person and what their personality is like.

Now my collection is nowhere near as huge as some of the ones I've seen. I've only really just begun seriously collection the past year and a bit. But I am really in love with everything I have (save one...). So without further ado let's jump in!
(Lili Bermuda "Coral" 15ml perfume $105)
Let's start at the very beginning, it's a very good place to start this is the first perfume I ever bought myself. I bought it last April whilst on a family vacation to Bermuda. I knew before we arrived on the island that I wanted to purchase a scent for myself from this perfumery. The company is Lili Bermuda, a local perfumery unique to the island. They have been handcrafting perfumes since 1928.
(Here is a picture I took outside the perfumery.)
I wanted something that would remind me of Bermuda (the place my grandfather grew up) and I knew I wanted the highest quality. It took me about 30 mins (I left and came back, which is always a good idea when choosing a perfume) to finally decide that "Coral" would be the scent for me. Here are the notes:
"Clementine and ginger, freesia, tuberose, nectar of rose, orange blossom and hydrangea are warmed with subtle woods, black pepper and musk blend"
I love it! Everytime I wear it I am immediately brought back to Bermuda and the smell of the blooming flowers combined with the the ocean breeze. I feel like I'm back on my little moped zipping around with a big grin on my face.

(Chanel "Coco Mademoiselle" 3.4 oz eau de parfum $115)

The next perfume I received was this "Coco Mademoiselle" by Chanel. I had hinted pretty hard for a while at my boyfriend that I wanted this perfume. It was one of the perfumes that I would always spray on my self when passing by a place like Sephora. I was so excited when I unwrapped the beautiful Chanel box this past Christmas. And SHOCKED when I saw the size of the bottle and perfume quality. My love had bought me the biggest size and in an Eau de Parfum! Apparently that was the box the sales lady handed him (thank you sales lady!). Here are the notes:

 "Top Notes: Orange, Bergamot, Grapefruit
Mid Notes: Litchi, Rose, Italian Jasmine
Base Notes: Indonesian Patchouli, Haitian Vetiver, Bourbon Vanilla, White Musk"

All of those fancy sounding ingredients combine to create a beautiful warm floral scent with a hint of sweetness that makes me feel girly yet sophisticated. I'm not typically one who is drawn to floral notes, as they that almost always give me an insta-headache. But there is something about the slight spice and warm notes that make this an increibley wearable and sexy floral perfume.

More recently I purchased this perfume by Dior.Gah, this perfume is just so sexy. Dior Addict is definitely an evening perfume as it's a deeper scent. I had wanted this perfume ever since first year university. My roommate had a bottle of this, and on special occasion she let me have a spritz. It always made me feel so luxurious. There is something to be said about knowing you're wearing something by houses like Dior and Chanel.

(Dior "Dior Addict" .67 oz eau de parfum $45)

Here are the notes:

"Silk Tree Flower, Mandarin Leaf, Orange Blossom, Queen of the Night Flower, Bulgarian Rose, Bourbon Vanilla Absolute, Mysore Sandalwood, Tonka Bean"

I can't say enough good things about this perfume. When I purchased it, the saleslady even commented saying, "Oh this, this is a goooood choice." If you get the chance take a sniff of this.

(Lavinila "Pure Vanilla" 1 oz eau de parfum $42)

The next perfume is one I gravitate towards more in the cooler months. "Pure Vanilla" by Lavanila was love at first sniff with me. I have always loved the smell of vanilla. Whenever I'm baking I always take a moment to have a good sniff of the vanilla extract. It's just such a delicious scent that is rich without being complicated. This is pretty much as simple as you can get. The notes are:

"Fresh Madagascar Vanilla with warm touch of Soft Patchouli and Pure Tonka Bean."

The rest of my fragrances are body mists from Bath & Bodyworks. I actually really love these mists! They come a million different scents and because they're not perfumes, you don't have to be as afraid of over doing it. Spritz freely my friend!

(Bath & Bodyworks "Forever Sunshine" and "Malibu Heat")

These first two are my favourite! "Forever Sunshine" is the perfect scent for a warm summer's evening. It's a cozy smell but there is something about it that is definitely reminiscent of summer sun. Here are the notes:

Top Notes: Juicy tangerine, golden apricot, sparkling mandarin, exotic berries
Mid Notes: Gardenia petals, freesia, pink peonies
Dry Notes: Vanila bean gelato, creamy sandalwood, nuzzly musks, a touch of sweet praline

"Malibu Heat" smells like the most delicious island cocktails. I got a lot of use out of this one when my boyfriend and I went to The Bahamas. I gravitate towards this on those sunny warm summer days. I love wearing it with a great tan and shorts with a tank. Here are the notes:

Top Notes: Fresh mandarin, california orange, crisp pear, juicy pineapple
Mid Notes: Orange blossom, lily of the valley, coconut water
Dry Notes: Creamy coconut milk, vanilla, sandalwood, sunny musk

 (Bath & Bodyworks "Cashemere Glow")

Last, and sort of least is "Cashmere Glow". It's not that it's a bad scent, it's just not what I was hoping for. I bought this after having used the lotion version for months. Everytime I wore the lotion people would comment about how lovely I smelt. So I thought it would be a great idea to pick up the body mist! It doesn't smell exactly like the lotion though. This is a bit to cinnamon bun like for me right now. I think perhaps I will get more enjoyment out of it come fall. Here are the notes:

Top Notes: Bergamot, golden peach, pink guava, exotic berries, gilded apricot
Mid Notes: Glowing muguet petals, mimosa, fluffy peony, fresh jasmine
Dry Notes: Shimmering vanilla, dulce de leche, sandalwood, cashmere musk

And that my beautiful friends is my fragrance collection. Not huge by any means, but the perfect size for me right now. It suits all my needs for every occasion. I really love everything I have.

Thrifty OOTD (05.08.13.)

Hi Everyone!
I've been humming and hawing for days and days now, trying to decide what to make my first blog post about. Well finally I just decided to bit the bullet and post something already!! I really liked my outfit today so I thought an OOTD (outfit of the day) would be fun.
(Dress: vintage- ReNeu Boutique Waist Belt: American Apparel- similar)
I'm busying applying for jobs these days and today was no exception. I wanted to wear something feminine and put together looking. Something that would make me feel super confident. It's a gorgeous summer-like day outside so I chose to finally bust out this dress I've been dying to wear. I feel like this dress is begging to have a crinoline skirt popped under it! How cute would that be?!
(Shoes: Nine West - found in a Bermudian thriftshop Sunglasses: Bizou - last year)

Searching for a job has been incredibly stressful. I absolutely hate handing out resumes. I feel all jittery and awkward. I rehearse what I want to say in my mind a million times before I go in... then after I come out I want to smack my self for all of the things I forgot to mention.
(Earrings: Found at thrift shop - Value Village )
Today I applied to a local restaurant that I really love here in town. Can I just say something (yes, because this is my blog. Muahaha!). It seems praticallly impossible to get into the waitressing business if you have never waitressed before. But how are you supposed to get experience if people will only hire you if you already have experience?! What's the secret? I guess you just have to luck out with an employer who is willing to take a chance on you.
(Face: Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation, Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder , Covergirl Cheekers in "Classic Pink" Eyes: Wet n' Wild Colour Icon palette in "Petal Pusher", Wet n' Wild Eyeliner in "Black", Covergirl LashBlast Fusion Mascara Lips: Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte in "101")
Alright, well there you have it! My first blog post is officially done! Woot! See now Erin, was that so scary? Are any of you guys hunting for jobs? How have you found the process?
love and kisses,
Erin
